After the success of the Control album, the world began to pay more and more attention to the youngest sibling of the Jackson family. Janet had already shown that she knew what she was doing and had been established as one of the greatest artists of the mid 80’s. In January 1987, ‘Let’s Wait Awhile ‘ was being released as a single. The track peaked at #2 on the Billboard Hot 100 and was her fourth single the #1 spot on Billboard’s Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs. In Brazil, the song ended up on the soundtrack of the soap-opera ‘Brega & Chique’, broadcasted by Rede Globo.
To celebrate all that success, A&M Records decided to relaunch the album in a new format. Control: The Remixes featured remixes of the big hits from the album; however, with no unreleased content. All the versions included in the compilation had already been released as b-sides on singles or been used on music videos, such as the video version of ‘When I Think Of You‘. The album received three different editions and was released in Europe, Japan (More Control) and Australia. It was released on Vinyl, CD and Cassette.
